"Hip, Chic, Dazzling... Sweet Basil's decor is as vibrant and lively as its food."

- Joan Reminick, Newsday Restaurant Critic

Sweet Basil Fusion is centrally located at Commack Corner Shopping Center in the quiet and inviting area on Jericho Tnpk in Commack. Apart from being a visually distinctive restaurant, their menu is unlike almost any other. Sweet Basil has a unique Japanese fusion menu, with a French and Asian influence. Their chef has found the right mixture of elegance and ambiance, with a friendly staff and a great dining layout which compliments the refined nature of his food. This results in a menu that rises above the traditional Japanese Restaurant and takes you on a delicious culinary adventure.

TOP 5 Fusion Meets Pan-Asian
By Joan Reminick, Newsday Restaurant Critic
One spoonful of Chef Anand Tiwadom's lemongrass- infused parsnip soup is all you need to know you've arrived at a place where the cooking is as confident as it is inventive.

There's nothing nondescript about the steamed black cod in brown butter ginger soy broth or the Chilean sea bass served over bok choy with miso orange emulsion.

Top 5 Soup Restaurants 2007
By Joan Reminick, Newsday Restaurant Critic
The lovely lemongrass-infused parsnip soup at this cavernous Asian hideaway is a complex and intense brew, its smooth texture offset by a piquant kick; on top floats a single scallop.

A winning fusion-style entree of caramelized jumbo prawns with sauteed soba noodles in garlic chili sauce clicked, both in presentation and flavor. I liked the tender steamed black cod in a brown butter ginger soy broth, a rendition less sweet but no less appealing than the iconic miso black cod dish....

"The best entree was miso - marinated chilean sea bass over bed of bok choy."
