Review from Patch.com:

Overview: Janine's is the newly revamped Venue 56, formerly Sweetwaters under the new ownership of John Perrotto. His Italian heritage shows in the landmark restaurant's new menu, that aims to serve families while striking a chord with its bar crowd.

Decor: Home-styled architecture of white walls with moldings and a layout make is almost like stepping into an old-fashioned house. It has that cozy atmosphere with small, intimate tables covered by white tablecloths that could feel romantic by candlelight in the evenings. A curved bar offers plenty of space to sit down or mingle.

Appetizers: Janine's new appetizer menu leans heavily towards seafood, representing with eight out of 12 dishes, with a selection of salads. The Tuna Spring Roll ($9.95) offers clean, fresh tuna with crunchy carrots, celery, cabbage that offers texture inside a crisp wrapper. It's a New American take on the dish, as its presented in wide triangular wedges rather then traditional rolls, leaving plenty of open surface to soak up the Orange Ginger Aioli sauce, the sweet citrus evenly toning the ginger's bite for a pleasant surprise.

Other appetizers include Fiery Calamari ($10.95) that pairs hot cherry and banana peppers with lemon garlic butter in dueling sauces and fresh Mussels ($9.95) with marinara or bianco sauce. There's also a selection of salads including traditional Garden Salad ($6.95) and Caesar Salad ($7.95) to a Poached Sweet Pear Salad ($9.95) made of baby spinach, toasted almonds, goat cheese and a raspberry vinaigrette.

Entrees: Having stopped by Janine's to sample its new menu for lunch, The Burger ($10.95) still offers the same 10 oz. Kobe beef lunch special that's attracted the industrial park workers. It offers a big bite for the cost, as a large, tender and evenly pink Kobe beef was well-matched with a soft, yet toasted bun that offers adequate support to hold it. A topping of grilled onions was generous for the additional 50 cents, with other toppings including assorted cheeses, mushrooms, avocado, apple wood smoked bacon, barbecue sauce and hot sauce. They can be piled on the Janine Classic ($7.95) an 10 oz. Black Angus beef burger as well.

The accompanying French fries could start a trend, shoestring cut and expertly cooked crisp on the outside, tender insides with a light salting. A generous portion offers plenty to enjoy, but you may want to guard your plate.

Patch will have to stop by at a later date to sample the dinner menu which includes a 10 oz. Filet Mignon ($27.95) and a Classic Lasagna Bolognese ($12.95).
