Angelina's II is a warm, inviting eatery, and the successful offspring of Angelina's in East Norwich. It's a handsome little spot, cozy and consistent.

As with the original, this restaurant prepares flavorful Italian food, and is especially strong on pastas.

Among the winning dishes over the years are a spirited spaghetti alla puttanesca, rife with black olives, plump capers and straightforward flavor; rigatoni alla vodka; and spinach gnocchi in meat sauce.

A springtime treat is the soup of asparagus and potatoes. Minestrone works year-round.

Try seafood, especially whole, grilled red snapper, or grilled swordfish with mustard sauce, pine nuts and sundried tomatoes.

The veal chop alla Milanese and the grilled ribeye steak both are handily recommended.

The right finales range from the flourless chocolate cake to a light tiramisu.
